ground is ready for them. There'll be plenty
of time later on to grow them. If it turns
out that our growing conditions (part
shade, sandy, Toronto) aren't a good fit
for the plants I want to try, well, there
are other plants. No big deal. More things to learn
In the meantime, I can focus on the plants that like
this cool weather. I've been moving
the strawberries around to catch

more sunshine. The hostas turned
out to be edible, but

before?),
I should probably
let them grow
a little more
before I try to tuck
them into more places.
The radishes are slowly sprouting.
Last
year's dianthus has come back, along with
the lavender (second year now!) The daylilies are
back too, and I'm tempted to try the tubers but that's
a bit riskier. Still waiting for spinach and lettuce.
In the meantime, there's alfalfa to sprout in a jar
and seedlings to keep nurturing (the
bitter melons are getting
a little grabby),
and photos to unearth and notes to
organize... The average last frost date
(May 11-20) will be here before I know.
Plenty of things to do until then.
(Maybe next year, I'll plant strawberries
in front as ground cover....)
